In addition, the SCR331 USB Smart Card Reader USB Smart Card Reader is the industry’s first to offer on-board flash. This enables future firmware and application enhancements that guarantee against obsolescence.

Typical applications for offices, IT companies and OEMs are for example logical access control to a PC or network, secure authentication for Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer applications, secure logon via email encryption.
With its EMV certification, it is also suitable for banking related applications. The reader is ideal for integrating it into systems of the gaming industry. Its square modular shape makes it furthermore suitable for integration into external systems such as in transportation related systems, e.g. for parking, ticketing, and toll-collection.
